A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has adjourned to next week the hearing on a writ petition filed by a private company seeking police protection for the construction of a mobile tower at Manjeri. The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Majula Chellur and Justice P.R. Ramchandra Menon directed the State government, the Manjeri municipality, and other respondents to file an affidavit.
The petition was filed by Posidon Infrastructure Private Ltd.
According to it, people in the area were obstructing the construction of the tower. The counsel for the Manjeri municipality submitted that the civic body had cancelled the permission given for the construction of the tower and issued a memo asking the company to stop construction activities.
The memo was issued in the wake of objections raised by the public against the construction of the tower.
